Location: Sacramento, CA

End Date: 01-19-2027

Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Night shifts, 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM, 12-hour shifts, every other weekend required, rotating holidays with core staff

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $91.70 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Deliver compassionate care to laboring moms and their growing families in a 13-bed L&D unit with 9 Mother Baby beds and 2 OR suites
Monitor and support patients through standard labor, high-risk obstetrics, and OB triage for patients 20 weeks and beyond
Circulate C-sections alongside a skilled surgical team
Transition seamlessly to Mother Baby or Level 1 Nursery when you have the experience and the need arises
Maintain meticulous charting in Cerner to keep the whole care team aligned
Jump in as first to float and bring your expertise wherever the unit needs you most
Celebrate the roughly 90 to 100 births that happen here every single month

Qualifications

Active RN license in California, or the ability to get one in motion quickly
At least 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, you know your way around a birthing center
BLS (AHA) certification
ACLS (AHA) certification
NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM) certification, with a copy ready at submittal
Comfort and confidence circulating C-sections
Two supervisory references, 1 within the last 12 months and 1 within the last 3 years
Copy of your driver's license at submittal so your legal name matches your submission exactly

Education

Charting System: Cerner
Unit Notes: Med Sol prescreens/auto offer & manager has 24 hrs to rescind
need 2 sup refs from modality submitting to (charge accepted) at submittal
1 w/in 12 mo. & 1 w/in 3 years worked

Knowledge & Skills

Labor and Delivery nursing with a solid grasp of Mother Baby care
OB triage know-how, including when patients under 20 weeks need ER evaluation
High-risk obstetrics experience that keeps you calm under pressure
Advanced fetal monitoring interpretation
C-section circulating skills
Level 1 Nursery familiarity is a bonus
Cerner EMR proficiency, or the willingness to pick it up fast
Strong communication skills for collaborating with in-house OB physicians and anesthesia
